List of foods that are served on our projects:

Grains and cereals: 

Buckwheat porridge,

rice,

semolina,

millet,

oatmeal,

pearl barley and regular barley,

corn,

peas,

corn flakes and other dry cereals

 Canned or preserved items: 

Condensed and boiled milk,

canned stew or chile,

canned corn,

peas,

beans,

tomatoes and tomato paste,

canned pumpkin and eggplant,

canned fish (mackerel, sprat and other fish) and various patés.

 Pasta,

soy and tofu

Hard and soft cheeses,

dried sausage

 Vegetables:

peppers (and other vegetables)

Comments on this menu:

– Because we will be eating in the great outdoors, we will not be providing eggs, butter, milk, or any soft fruits and vegetables that may bruise or go rotten easily.
– However, for the first few days of a project we will be able to make salads out of fresh vegetables. Towards the end of the project most of our bread will be dried into croutons.

Sample menu for our 14-day projects:

 

Day 1 (and also days 5, 9, and 13 of the project)

Breakfast: dried cereal with condensed or powdered milk, tea, coffee, biscuits and sweets
 Morning tea break: dried fruits and sweets with tea
 Lunch: Sweet and sour soup (usually from packets, with or without meat), tea, and sandwiches with various paté spreads
 Dinner: Rice dish with or without meat, cooked vegetables (peas and/or corn), bread, tea, cookies and candies for dessert

Day 2 (and also days 6, 10, and 14 of the project)

Breakfast: dried cereal with milk, or cornmeal porridge, hot chocolate, cookies dipped in sweet milk
 Morning tea break: chocolate, crackers, and tea
 Lunch: Borsch soup (from packages, with or without meat), tea, dried fish sandwiches
 Dinner: Macaroni and cheese, tea, cookies and sweets for dessert

Day 3 (and also days 7, 11)

Breakfast: Dried cereal with milk or wheat porridge, tea, coffee, biscuits and cookies, bread and cheese
 Morning tea break: dried fruit, candy and tea
 Lunch: Soup with noodles (out of package, with or w/o meat), compote, and sandwiches with paté spreads
 Dinner: Buckwheat with or w/o meat, tea, cookies, and candy

Day 4 (and also days 8, 12)

Breakfast: hot rice porridge with powdered milk and raisins, tea, coffee, biscuits
 Morning tea break: raisins and other dried fruit, biscuits and tea
 Lunch: Mushroom soup (out of packets), dried croutons, tea and sweet cookies
 Dinner: Pasta dish with or without meat, fruit drink, tea, biscuits and cookies
